Vented or plain (not vented) soffit
Arcan Aluminium offers a large selection of vented and plain soffits, including the 4-Panel Aluminum Soffit. Properly installed, it provides essential ventilation and air circulation that reduce excess moisture, which can cause rotting and decay of the roof’s structure. It also promotes directional air movement through the eaves and rafters of your home, helping it to stay in great shape both inside and out.
We offer a wide variety of colors and thicknesses. Special lengths are available when placing an order. You will also find the 2-panel and 3-panel soffit models at the bottom of the page.
Aluminum Soffit Installation
Install the soffit on your home with prefinished aluminium and fascia. Thereby protecting the underside of your eaves and wood trim at the roof edge. They won’t peel or rot, so they will last for decades with no maintenance.
Materials required (available in store) :
- 1-1/2-in. trim nails
- Drip Edge
- Fascia
- J-Channel
- Soffit panels
Soffit panels are available in 12-ft. lengths x 16-in. widths and vented or unvented. Vented soffit has thousands of perforations that allow air to flow through but keep insects out. Solid (unvented) soffit has no perforations. Most installers use only vented material, even in areas that don’t need venting, such as gable ends (the peaks at the ends of roofs). Make your life easy—stick with 16-in. wide ventilated panels to simplify ordering and to cover large areas faster.
To calculate quantity, multiply width by length (in feet) of each soffit surface, add them all up to get total square footage and divide by 16 (the square footage of one 16-in. panel). Add 5 percent extra for waste and overlaps.

Traditionally, aluminum soffit was mostly painted white and is still by far the most popular colour.
Over time, many new colours where introduced to the market place, and today there are a variety of colours to choose from that match the different siding and roofing colours.

What painting systems are used to paint soffits?
The paint systems that we use to paint our coils is either polyester, PVDF or Kynar. These paint systems are excellent for the frigid winters and the hot summers we get in our area.
These paints are flexible so that when we manufacture the soffit the paint will never crack or peel off.
