The right tools
When starting a renovation project or new construction, the first item at hand is making sure you have the right tools. Having the right tools when working on projects as unique and specialized as vinyl siding installation will not only save you time and effort but will give a better quality result that will last longer over time.

Level and a square
Angles and levels are the two most important tools to check constantly when installing siding. Along with a chalk line, these tools will help you align your panels correctly right from the start. Of course, a good tape measure is a must. Be sure to have a hammer and a good pair of snips too.
Safety glasses are always a good idea to wear and gloves can be handy when installing sharper materials.
Saws and cutter.
For cutting, there are several tools and techniques depending on the material you need to cut. For vinyl siding, experts recommend using a fine tooth blade, such as a plywood blade, installed in the reverse direction. This will help getting sharper cuts without damaging the material. This can make a huge difference in cold weather. Be cautious when using this technique and don’t forget to put the blade back in its original direction after you’re done.
You can also use a good utility knife with new blades for precise cuts and borders. Vinyl is pretty easy to cut with a knife.
You may need a drill to make some holes in your j-trims or starter trims. This technique is used for proper water drainage. Ask our experts about how to do this if you’re unsure.
If repairing an old job or replacing broken panels, a siding remover tool may be handy to remove panels without damaging them and easily replacing them. It will also save your hands!
If you’re installing facia and soffits, a good, reliable and rugged sheet metal brake will be one of your best investments, and over time will allow you to deliver top-quality jobs on time.
Sheet metal brakes are a must for any serious contractor and your investment will be quickly paid off by getting better contracts.
